A Day in the Life (July 2026)

Hello mates! Don’t worry, I’m alive. I apologize for the inactivity, the transition from the school year into summer has proven to be more challenging than anticipated.
After a fulfilling, yet grueling first year of uni, I have been eagerly looking forward to summer. As much as I love writing long academic reports on Chinese media systems, I also love having more free time to work on the blog. As we move into summer (and month 9 of the blog), I’ve been reflecting on all our growth, individually and collectively, so far. Serenna’s climbed to the ranks of deputy editor at Still Listening Magazine while speeding around the UK, Indi’s established herself as a creative force in her new home of Salt Lake City, and Lauren’s social media finesse has grown our Instagram to 200+ followers.
As for me, I’ve been keeping busy too. I’ve been interning at local indie label Youth Riot Records, managing the blog's website, and continuing to interview artists. Recently, I interviewed rapper/electronic musician polearm which was very surreal for me. Going from watching thayerperiod recreating his songs on Instagram Reels to interviewing him about his favorite Beatle showed me how far I’ve come as a journalist since starting the blog back in October.

There’s a LOT to look forward to this month! My interview with Seattle hardcore band Cherub Chains, Krista’s review for Joji’s Piss in the Wind (Deluxe), Indi’s interview with Milwaukee-based post-hardcore act Resurrectionists, among a load of other things will be releasing this July so make sure you check our blog regularly and follow our Instagram!
I like to end all of these monthly newsletters with a thank you so once again, thank you to Ground Zero and The Vera Project for always supporting us. And of course, big up to all our readers, you guys rox my sox!!! Also, special thanks to Thomas from S.P.E.A.R. and Star99, who I randomly ran into back in June, for putting me on the house list for the Jeff Rosenstock concert. Thanks for making me feel like a celebrity and inflating my ego, even though it’s unbearably big already.
