On Jan. 27, University of Washington (UW) students took part in an ‘ICE Out Now’ demonstration held in Red Square of the UW Seattle campus, demanding for the removal of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents out of U.S. cities and that university admins act to prevent their presence on campus. The rally began late in the evening, organized by Students for Democratic Society at UW, and garnered hundreds of students and community members who held signs as they chanted, marched, and temporarily occupied streets around the campus. The demonstration is among the hundreds of nation-wide marches and protests that have taken place demanding for the abolishment of ICE, after a surge of federal agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota led to the shooting and killing of Renee Good, Alex Pretti and Keith Porter Jr.
